The violent attack on students and teachers of Jawaharlal Nehru University by masked goons shocked one and all. The pictures and videos of the violence and its aftermath were all over social media. A nationwide protest broke out with people demanding strict action against the miscreants. Now, it is Deepika Padukone who has extended her support to the students of JNU. She is currently in the capital to promote her upcoming film Chhapaak and she reached the campus of JNU to stand by the students and express solidarity.

In the video posted by news agency ANI, we can see Deepika standing next to  Aishe Ghosh, a JNU student and the president of the JNU Students Union who was badly injured.  Jai Hind songs are being chanted as people are expecting their angst against what happened on the night when a mob of masked people barged into JNU with iron rods. Deepika Padukone took part in the demonstration that was taking place at Sabarmati T point of the university. She, however, did not address the rally and was there only for a short while. In some of the pictures, we see her meeting Aishe with folded hands and having a conversation.
